Industrial HVAC Technician

About the Position 

We are looking for an experienced Industrial HVAC Technician to take ownership of the heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems supporting our manufacturing operation. 

This is a hands-on position responsible for four Trane chillers—100-ton, 60-ton, and two 50-ton units—along with numerous mini-splits and window units, steam heat, blowers and fans, and multiple industrial exhaust systems. 

The right candidate will be able to troubleshoot complex HVAC/R systems, make repairs, and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and uptime. 

What You'll Do 

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on industrial HVAC/R systems. 

  • Take primary responsibility for the plant's four Trane chillers and associated chilled-water equipment. 

  • Maintain mini-splits, window units, steam heating, blowers, fans, and industrial exhaust systems. 

  • Troubleshoot HVAC electrical and controls, including motors, pumps, contactors, relays, sensors, thermostats, VFDs, and control circuits. 

  • Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and mechanical documentation. 

  • Recover, evacuate, charge, transfer, handle, store, and properly dispose of refrigerants and HVAC-related fluids in accordance with applicable regulations. 

  • Remove and replace HVAC/R components and perform refrigerant-system repairs safely. 

  • Purchase HVAC/R parts, refrigerants, tools, and materials needed to maintain the plant's equipment. 

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and refrigerant records. 

  • Work with vendors and contractors when specialized service is required. 

  • Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to reliability, safety, efficiency, and production uptime. 

  • Follow OSHA, EPA, environmental, and company safety requirements. 

What We're Looking For 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • **EPA Section 608 Universal Certification — required.** 

  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC/R maintenance and troubleshooting experience, preferably industrial or manufacturing. 

  • Experience troubleshooting chillers and chilled-water systems. 

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting skills. 

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation. 

  • Experience with motors, pumps, fans, blowers, VFDs, and HVAC controls. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Trane or other commercial/industrial chillers. 

  • Industrial steam heating. 

  • Industrial ventilation and exhaust systems. 

  • Refrigerant recovery/charging and brazing. 

  • Industrial HVAC electrical and controls. 

  • Manufacturing or industrial maintenance. 

Schedule & Availability 

  • Work overtime as needed. 

  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation. 

  • Respond to emergency HVAC/facility maintenance calls. 

  • Work occasional weekends, holidays, or other non-standard hours when required. 

  • On-call and emergency response requirements are shared through a scheduled maintenance rotation. 

Compensation & Benefits 

  • $30–$40+ per hour based on experience and qualifications. 

  • 10 paid holidays from your first day.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated equipment. 

  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach, twist, kneel, and work in various positions. 

  • Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, dusty, and industrial environments. 

  • Ability to lift and move tools, materials, and equipment as required. 

  • Ability to safely work around refrigerants, electrical equipment, machinery, and other industrial hazards.
